Beckham and Donovan Top MLS Player Salary List

David Beckham remains the highest-paid player in Major League Soccer, despite not having played for the Los Angeles Galaxy this season due to an Achilles' tendon injury.
The England star, who is currently part of England's coaching staff at the World Cup in South Africa, will earn a guaranteed $6.5 million this year, according to the MLS Players Union.
Landon Donovan, his Galaxy teammate who is starring for the USA in South Africa, ranks second in the list with $2.13 million.
Red Bulls striker Juan Pablo Angel, the former Aston Villa marksman, will collect $1.92 million.
Freddie Lungberg, the ex-Arsenal midfielder who now plies his trade for the Seattle Sounders, brings in $1.31 million.
The MLS Players Union said the average salary for the 406 players listed was $138,169.

The Galaxy opened their stadium, the Home Depot Center on June 7. But in order for their home to be ready, the team had to play a record 8 games to start the season and failed to win a game. In fact, the Galaxy finish the season without a win away from home the whole season. After the season's final game, the Galaxy had the final playoff spot in the West.
