Los Angeles , which leads MLS with 19 goals, scored four times in a span of 14 minutes in the first half, with Dallas defender Duilio Davino involved in three.
Defender Chris Klein gave the Galaxy a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute. Six minutes later, Buddle dribbled past Anthony Wallace and Davino on his way to his first goal of the afternoon.
In the 34th minute, Davino suffered his first own goal since joining FC Dallas when Landon Donovan's shot bounced into the net off Davino's leg. Just five minutes later, Davino's poor clearance set up Buddle, who made it 4-0.
"I don't think it's [just] Duilio's nor [just] the defense's responsibility," midfielder Pablo Ricchetti said of the scoring outburst. "Eleven of us entered the field, and 11 of us played a very bad first half."
Dominique Oduro scored FC Dallas' goal on a header in the 54th minute.
Donovan finished with two assists for the Galaxy.
LA was the last team to score four first-half goals against Dallas , doing so on July 31, 2007, in a SuperLiga match. Sunday also marked the first time Dallas surrendered five goals in a regular-season match since a 5-2 loss at Los Angeles on Oct. 14, 2006.
Cooper awaits call: FC Dallas forward Kenny Cooper recorded his first assist of the season Sunday, connecting with Oduro on his header.
The 23-year-old Cooper, a Dallas native, is among 33 players being considered by national team coach Bob Bradley to represent the U.S. in friendlies against England on May 28 in London and against Spain on June 4 in Santander , Spain .
Bradley will reveal the 22-player roster this week.
