Galaxy Deal GK Cannon to San Jose
Jan. 10, 2008
The Los Angeles Galaxy traded goalkeeper Joe Cannon to the San Jose Earthquakes for allocation money Thursday.
Cannon started 29 of the Galaxy's 30 games last season, his first with the club after being acquired from Colorado during the offseason. He was 9-13-7, with five shutouts and a 1.59 goals-against average. Cannon also started all five matches in the Galaxy's run to the SuperLiga final.
Cannon became expendable after the team re-signed goalkeeper Steve Cronin to a new multiyear deal Wednesday. He was Cannon's backup last season.
In San Jose , Cannon will be reunited with former Galaxy coach Frank Yallop, who left recently to take over the Earthquakes.
